ForexMinute.com – LibertyX, the financial services company, recently launched 2,500 Bitcoin outlets in 33 states across the US.
As stated in the company’s official press release, “consumers will be able to purchase bitcoin at the cashier at conveniently located neighborhood stores around the country.” LibertyX has also listed the outlets’ locations on the website. In a best case scenario, this service will make Bitcoin-buying process as easy as buying a mobile recharge coupon.
And indeed, the steps involved in purchasing Bitcoin from LibertyX outlets is similar to buying recharge coupons. All one has to do is find the nearest store that sells LibertyX Bitcoin Pin, and redeem it online to transfer the purchased amount to his/her Bitcoin wallet.
Chris Yim, LibertyX co-founder and MIT alumnus explains, “After our installations at MIT and Harvard, we were inundated with requests to place LibertyX bitcoin ATMs across the country. We spent the last several months building a highly scalable bitcoin purchasing solution to address these previously underserved markets. We are excited to launch this new retail store channel that removes access as a major remaining barrier of bitcoin adoption.”
Co-founder Kyle Powers adds:
“We’ve been the go-to bitcoin solution for thousands of consumers already from our modest base of 4 machines. That successful proof of concept set the stage for this integration, which will help us grow by a several orders of magnitude. We continue to believe the cash channel is important for bringing bitcoin to those who will benefit from it the most.”
We will keep a close eye on the consumer reactions once this service goes mainstream.
