Bitcoin enthusiasts in Africa are going to have an opportunity to participate in the first ever Bitcoin conference in the continent as Cape Town in South Africa is going to host the event. Announcing the event, the organizers say that they are excited to announce the first Bitcoin Africa Conference on the 16th & 17th April 2015 in Cape Town, South Africa.

According to the organizers, “The Bitcoin Africa Conference will bring together merchants, investors, venture capitalists, start-ups and Bitcoin enthusiasts who are all looking to move Bitcoin forward in Africa.” Bitcoin has huge potential to help out the people who have been left untouched by the modern banking facilities; the event will explore this as well.

In their official website the organizers of the Bitcoin Conference admit that the two-day event is going to explore the following: What is Bitcoin?, the block chain and Bitcoin mining, Merchant adoption, Bitcoin in Africa, The financial, legal and regulatory implications of Bitcoin, and the future of Bitcoin.

Merchant adoption of Bitcoin has long been a major issue around the world wherein a lot of new businesses have embraced it as well; however, the growth has not been satisfactory for the continent of Africa. A lot has to be done to explore the potential that Bitcoin has for the whole continent and the services it can bring along for the unbanked people.

Bitcoin can be a Boon for Unbanked Africans

Nonetheless, the organizers of the event admit that there are some financial, legal and regulatory implications of Bitcoin are there as well; however, given the role Bitcoin can play in the lives of unbanked people, the governments may think of giving a lenient treatment. This can help the digital currency transform the way transactions are carried out in Africa.

Thus, whole range of issues and topics will be discussed by the panelists which have not yet been sorted out.
