ChildFund International Now Accepting Donations in Bitcoin through BitPay – ChildFund International, one of the world’s most renowned child development organization, recently started accepting donations in the cryptocurrency Bitcoin through BitPay.

The US-based nonprofit is the latest organization to discover the potential of Bitcoin in reducing the transaction costs. Integrating with BitPay further helps ChildFund, as the company offers free payment processing services to charitable groups, making their entire experience second-to-none. Before ChildFund, BitPay has been offering the similar services to a number of leading nonprofit organizations like Save the Children, American Red Cross, Greenpeace USA and Literacy Bridge.

Elizabeth Ploshay, the account manager at BitPay, supported the idea of utilizing a payment technology like marvel for good causes. She further praised ChildFund International for offering support to children’s education, health care, job training and personal development from birth to 24 years of age.

“With their new BitPay donation page, ChildFund will enable donors to use bitcoin to help young people and their communities,” Ploshay said. “2014 has been a watershed year for bitcoin’s charitable uses. As this year closes and a new year begins, we hope that bitcoin users donate to ChildFund International and other groups making a global impact.”

ChildFund current provided assistance to poverty and tragedy-struck children in 30 countries throughout North and South America, as well as Africa and Asia. The 76-year old nonprofit have earlier received favorable reviews from Charity Navigator – a charity evaluation organization, and just became the first nonprofit to receive the Association for Financial Professionals 2014 Pinnacle Award Grand Prize.
