The two organizations, Blockchain and the Bitcoin Foundation are trying to award those entities that are encouraging users to adapt Bitcoin and helping out the digital currency big way. Now, the two organizations have introduced the inaugural Blockchain Awards. In an announcement they say that the first annual Blockchain Awards will be given in May.
The announcement came when the two organizations said that they want to celebrate innovation and excellence in the Bitcoin community with the awards. Co-presented by the Bitcoin Foundation and Blockchain.info, this inaugural awards ceremony will take place on Fri, 16 May at #Bitcoin2014 on the Main Deck of the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam.
In the release, both organizations say that invitations are being asked from the interested entities. Nominations are open which can be done using the nomination form at blog.blockchain.com for all. The dates are open from 16 April and last till 6th May for nominations. After the end of the nomination date, the top three finalists for each category will be announced 7 May as well as further details on voting.
Ten Categories of Awards
In its announcement, the two organizations say that the ten categories of achievement are:
Most Impactful Charity, Most Creative Video, Most Informative Podcast, Most Influential Investor, Best ATM Design, Most Insightful Journalist, Best Mobile App, Bitcoin Legal Expert, Academic Paper, and Bitcoin Champion.
The partner in awarding the entities, Blockchain.info will donate 1 BTC to each category winner. Nonetheless, the award will be permanently and historically written into the Block Chain as proof of ownership. Blockchain CEO Nicolas Cary says that the awards will celebrate the exceptional quality, leadership, and technical innovation that are being seen every day.
The Blockchain CEO also said that with these awards he hopes to take a moment and reflect on the amazing contributions from the Bitcoin community. The two organizations will co-host the event to be held on 16th May at the Bitcoin 2014 Conference in Amsterdam, a mega event where thousands of Bitcoin experts and enthusiasts are going to participate.
The event not just provides excellent opportunity for investors, technologists, regulators, executives, entrepreneurs, developers, etc. but also provides information for policymakers to know the digital currency and frame the policies accordingly.
Thus, Bitcoin 2014, the annual international forum, exhibition and networking conference organized by the Bitcoin Foundation for the FinTech industry, is going to become eventful now.
