American Red Cross Starts Accepting Donations in Bitcoin via BitPay

American Red Cross Starts Accepting Donations in Bitcoin via BitPay – Recognized humanitarian organization, the American Red Cross recently started to accept Bitcoin donations, following the support they received from BitPay, the world’s leading Bitcoin payment processing company.

According to the available reports, BitPay is hosting a special webpage for receiving and processing donations for their new charity partner, without any fees. Thus, the American Red Cross will accept the 100% of the Bitcoin donations, with BitPay acting only as the free mailman in between.

“Introducing the American Red Cross to the bitcoin community is really going to showcase the generosity of this new group of consumers,” said Elizabeth Ploshay, who heads BitPay’s nonprofit initiatives. “Bitcoin users are extremely passionate people who are looking to put their bitcoin towards good causes. I’m sure the community will be excited to have such an established charity to donate to.”

The representatives of the Red Cross received BitPay’s service with wide arms. Jennifer Niyangoda, the executive director of Corporate and Foundation Programs, showed her gratitude towards the Bitcoin Company and said:

“The Red Cross is thrilled to partner with BitPay to offer a different way for generous donors to support our humanitarian mission. This gives a new generation of supporters the opportunity to help people in need.”

The nonprofit meanwhile also announced to participate in the upcoming “Bitcoin Black Friday” event – a digital version of the traditional Black Friday sales that will support Bitcoin-specific deals. The Red Cross will be listed there to attract Bitcoin users towards making generous donations and give a cheerful holiday to someone in need.
