Swarm intelligence which is a relatively new discipline that deals with the study of self-organizing processes both in nature and in artificial systems, is going to be held on September 10-12, 2014 at Brussels in Belgium. Now, the organizers of the event are opening their gates for all those who wish to pay in Bitcoin.
Swam intelligence is a Belgium-based conference which attracts people from Europe and other parts of the world. Now, with Bitcoin set to be accepted as payment for registration, the participants have higher level of liberty that makes it become even more flexible and provide multiple payment options.
In fact, with the decision, it has become the first of sort organization that accepts the digital currency. Named ANTS, the ninth international conference on swarm intelligence is being organized by IRIDIA, Belgium’s leading artificial intelligence lab located at the Free University of Brussels (Université Libre de Bruxelles).
IRIDIA has been at the forefront of Bitcoin promotion in Belgium when it became of the first incubators of the Belgian Bitcoin scene. Several researchers from the lab created a discussion group which tried its best to make people of the country aware of the digital currency and for that they formed the Brussels Bitcoin meet up group.
The organization later on became one of the oldest in the world and the biggest Bitcoin Meet up Group in Europe and still doing its job quite wonderfully. In fact, it is the organization that played cardinal role in forming Belgian Bitcoin Association (BBA) which is helping the cause of Bitcoin in the country.
Promoting Bitcoin, the Decision Will Help Participants Use Their Bitcoin
Now, in the close coordination with BBA, the organizers of swarm intelligence can accept Bitcoin without any hassle. In its statement IRIDIA says it appreciates the BBA which helped it become the first scientific conference accepting payments in the digital currency. The decision is expected to help the cause of Bitcoin in the country.
In his statement to media Arne Brutschy, Director of the Belgian Bitcoin Association, said that though there are several reasons why the organization decided to include Bitcoin as a payment option, the major reason was that it was a logical step after being the incubator of much of Belgian’s Bitcoin activity.
He added that his organization is trying to promote and use Bitcoin where it can and as it is not a business, it has very little opportunity to do so practically, but the bi-annual conference gave it such an opportunity.
