Bitcoin News Mash-Up

Following are the main Bitcoin news of the day

PayStand Launches Bitcoin Plug-in for WordPress Businesses
Renowned cryptocurrency payment processing provider PayStand recently launched a new Bitcoin plug-in, especially dedicated to WordPress merchants. It is now the second Bitcoin payment service, after WooCommerce, offering cryptocurrency enthusiast WordPress merchants an opportunity to trade Bitcoins. PayStand CEO Jeremy Almond further stated:

“Cards aren’t going away tomorrow. […] We can go to a WordPress merchant and say, ‘Here’s an offering where you can still take cards and electronic checks, but you can offer something that is free for transactions.’ [Bitcoin is] global and it solves a lot of problems around payments.”

US Universities Now Offering Bitcoin-Centered Courses
With the business and finance world ultimately realizing the future potential of digital currencies, the education sector understands the desired manpower behind such an innovative sector. Maybe that is why two major universities in the US have opened new courses on Bitcoin. Both New York University (NYU) and Duke University (DU) are successfully conducting special classes on cryptocurrency technology. In its very first day, NYU-sponsored Bitcoin course saw at least 35 attendees.

MIT Bookstore Now Accepting Bitcoin
Kendall Square Bookstore at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) recently announced to accept Bitcoin as one of its payment methods. It subsequently became the first university bookstore to accept a cryptocurrency. Jerry Murphy, President of the Cooperative Society at Harvard, said:

“Part of our decision to do this was based on the fact that we have had a Bitcoin exchange in our store for six months now. MIT has a reputation of being on the cutting edge of a lot of things, and the student body has an interest in Bitcoin. All these factors came together and we said, ‘let’s give it a shot and see if it makes sense.’”
